A public discussion was held in the big village of Zhambyl District of Almaty region

Today, a public discussion on the construction of a nuclear power plant took place in
the village of Ulken, Zhambyl district, Almaty region. About 300 people gathered in the
assembly hall of Ulken High School.
 
The speakers were representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of
Kazakhstan, LLP "Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants", RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics"
and others. Experts spoke in detail about the impact of nuclear power plants on the
environment, on water resources. The technical aspects of the NPP, the prospects for the
development of the region during the construction of a nuclear power plant were also
considered.
 
Residents of Ulken village expressed support for the NPP construction project.
 
At the end of the public discussions, the President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan,
Banu Nurgazieva, took the initiative to hold public discussions in other regions of the
country in order to ensure transparency and open dialogue with the public, taking into
account the opinions of interested parties.
