Kazakh delegation took part in the opening of the 67th session of the General Conference of the IAEA
Today, the Kazakh delegation headed by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.M. Satkaliev took part in the opening of the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The 67th Annual General Conference of the IAEA is scheduled to be held from September 25 to 29, 2023 in Vienna (Austria).
The General Conference is one of the main governing bodies of the IAEA, as well as a unique platform for discussing strategic issues in the nuclear field. The conference is attended annually by more than 2,000 representatives from 177 member States of the Agency, international and non-governmental organizations.
The Kazakh delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna", the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC "NAC "Kazatomprom", LLP "MAEK" and LLP "Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants".
At the official opening ceremony of the General Conference, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satkaliev A.M. made a report on the state of the nuclear industry of Kazakhstan and plans for its development. He emphasized the role of Kazakhstan in supporting the nuclear nonproliferation regime.
In addition, on the sidelines of the General Conference, it is planned to hold a bilateral meeting with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, as well as with representatives of the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, France and the Russian Federation to discuss prospects for cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy.
