Education and Business Join Forces for the Future of Nuclear Energy
The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy is stepping up efforts to train qualified specialists and engage domestic businesses in the development of the country’s future nuclear power plant.
Today marked the first meeting of the Interagency Working Group on Localization and Human Capital Development, chaired by Vasiliy Lavrenov, Deputy Chairman of the Agency.
The meeting brought together representatives from government bodies, LLP “KNPP” (Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants), the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, as well as academic and public organizations. The group discussed the involvement of domestic enterprises in nuclear energy projects, existing barriers to increasing local content, and international localization practices, including how they can be adapted to the Kazakh context.
A separate session was dedicated to workforce development, including the launch of new educational programs, expanded cooperation with international universities, and the creation of a talent pool for upcoming nuclear energy projects.
Following the meeting, key areas of focus were identified, and participants agreed to develop a detailed roadmap. The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for October.
