The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy held a meeting on production localization issues related to the construction of the first nuclear power plant. The discussion focused on the participation of domestic companies in the project, technology transfer, support for local industry, and the creation of new jobs.

It was noted that a significant portion of NPP construction costs is allocated to a wide range of auxiliary structures, engineering systems, materials, and services. This opens up significant opportunities for engaging Kazakhstani manufacturers and contractors.

The key objectives include preparing industrial enterprises for the requirements of the nuclear industry, organizing technology transfer, developing local production capacity, and creating sustainable employment.

One of the key decisions will be the creation of a special registry of suppliers of goods, works, and services for the nuclear energy sector. This will ensure the transparency of procedures, quality control, and equal access to project participation. To maintain this special registry, a digital platform is planned to be developed that will ensure transparency, efficiency, quality, and security of supply.

During the meeting, the key elements of the draft Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Localization in NPP Construction were presented, including an analysis of the current situation, promising areas for localization, mechanisms for stimulating industrial development, and government support measures

«We are creating a system that will attract only qualified and reliable contractors—this is the foundation of the safety and effectiveness of nuclear projects. "The implementation of the Comprehensive Plan will modernize a significant portion of domestic industrial enterprises, create a solid foundation for involving several hundred Kazakhstani companies in the supply chain, and facilitate the opening of new production facilities. This will boost the development of small and medium-sized businesses, create jobs, and improve regional infrastructure,» — noted Agency Chairman A. Satkaliyev.

Following the meeting, a decision was made to conduct an in-depth analysis of the state of the industrial and construction sectors. Government agencies were instructed to review the submitted draft Comprehensive Plan and make proposals. In parallel, work will continue on creating a supplier registry and launching a digital platform for its operation.
